Interesting Facts
Williamson County is named for Robert McAlpin Williamson, a leader in the Battle of San Jacinto. The Battle of San Jacinto took place in 1836 during the Texas Revolution.
Longhorn Cavern State Park in Burnet, about 35 miles away from Round Rock, features Longhorn Cavern, a Texas Hill Country wonder. The caverns have a colorful history. It is said that the Longhorn Cavern was the hideout of Sam Bass, a legendary Texas outlaw who was shot in 1878.
